Free Space Required for Windows 7 SP1 Installation

Many people would question how much space will Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 take when you perform an update. Here is a list for 3 types of update methods and spaces required for your hard disk for Windows 7 Ultimate:

1. Update through Windows Update:

  • x86 (32-bit): 750 MB
  • x64 (64-bit): 1050 MB

2. Update through SP1 update package downloaded from the Microsoft website

  • x86 (32-bit): 4100 MB
  • x64 (64-bit): 7400 MB

3. Update through DVD installation

  • x86 (32-bit): 4100 MB
